the dense fog of privilege

that is one sexy desk

Design. For those of us who can afford possessions like clothes, furniture, and other luxuries (which is really a small percentage of the world population), design is a part of life. The clothes you wear, the way your room looks, and all the other junk you own, say something about who you are. Even if you're not consciously "fashionable", a plain tee and dirty jeans says just as much as a leather jacket and those obnoxiously big sunglasses.

Things I've done since I've been in NB:

-finished reading "A Game of Thrones" (was still awesome)
-donated platelets and blood
-got a parking ticket
-bought Scott Pilgrim vol. 4
-bought a bookshelf (still need bed, desk, dresser, etc.)
-partied, played video games
-set up bittorrent (yes that's an accomplishment for me)
-that's about it, kinda sad I guess

I probably sound like a country bumpkin, but I think it's great that I can walk outside and there are a dozen places to eat. While that's not great for my wallet, I don't have much choice as we have no stove or microwave yet.

Once my stuff is settled in and I have a job, I will feel a lot better.

I actually doodled this for some reason a few days before I saw the draw yourself as a teen meme thing. It's weird how similar it is...freaky human mass conscious or whatever.

The sad thing is I'm probably making myself look much cooler than I was.

thing

So this is a shitty doodle and I don't have a scanner so I took a bad picture. Maybe I'll make a better one later.

I've been having these really weird dreams lately, since I've been sick with a stuffy nose and a bad hacking cough. Nothing would happen in these dreams, they only consisted of bad feelings, sensations, and textures. Everything was just bad, I can't describe it. Then at some point during the day, I would do something that would remind me of a feeling I dreamed about.

Ghost Hound recap, pt. 1

  • Jan. 11th, 2008 at 11:27 PM
Ghost Hound is a psychological suspense/horror anime from Shirow Masamune and Production IG.
This is the kind of show you need to watch in a dark room with a good sound system and an HDTV.
If you liked Paranoia Agent or Serial Experiments Lain, you need to watch this show.

To sum it up, it's about three boys in a small town who witness lots of weird supernatural, scary shit. Our main character, Taro, was kidnapped as a little kid, along with his older sister. He was found alive, but his sister died. 11 years later, all kinds of weird things start happening.

Instead of trying to explain the plot or do episode summaries (I've watched up to 10 now), I'll just go back through some of my favorite parts so far, with screencaps.

spoilers for episodes 1-3; 15 images )

So I know this game has been out for months, but I just got it for Christmas and I just beat it.
I really enjoyed it; the whole thing was stylus controlled, which I thought was going to be annoying,
but it worked really well. The only thing that really suffered from stylus controls was the fighting system.
It was a pain in the ass fighting real enemies, like Stalfos or the fish warriors or whatever.
Actually, there weren't really many monsters in this game; it was more puzzle-focused.

I had a dream that someone made this cupcake recipe I saw.

A friend of mine made them and I asked him if they were good, he said yeah.
He was eating one and it looked even better than the picture.

Lots of other crazy stuff happened but I don't remember it.

I made eggnog cheesecake for Christmas dinner.
It had a crust made of gingersnaps, and went well with caramel topping and a glass of actual eggnog.
mmmmm

I had a long series of dreams that I remembered cause I kept waking up and going back to sleep for a few hours. But the only part I can recall now is this:
Dad was driving a boat. We were in a big lake or a resivour(sp?). We saw a big shark's fin surfacing far away. For some reason Dad wanted to go see it because he thought it was something else. I kept yelling at him not go go there and to turn around cause it would kill us, but he thought it was a person in trouble or something. He drove over a waterfall and our boat turned over. I could see the shark coming to us and I was scared...

Last night I had a dream that some random woman was going to give me $12k for no reason.
This is probably because I need $12k for my college term bill, which I don't have so I'm going to start taking out loans.
Thursday night I had a nightmare about doing dishes. I just couldn't stop thinking about dirty dishes. This is because my new job is washing dishes at the Pub and it really sucks.

I think I'm a little stressed out.
